This Hit Far To Close To Home!

Original air date: 11/28/12. Mary Jo was a 45-year-old special education teacher in a rural town in Pennsylvania when her life was rocked by teen pregnancy and the “sexting” epidemic all at once. With the District Attorney threatening to charge her pregnant 14-year-old daughter as a pornographer, Mary Jo risks her career and her family’s reputation and fights back.

I’m sure everyone remembers the “SEXTING” scandal that broke loose a few years ago, probably not the name of the town that initiated the whole thing but “sexting” is now a well known term in our vocabulary. Most don’t know I hail from that small ass town and know all to well the reality of being young with not much to do. It’s not often that I tell my story here – but I feel the need today, because a friend of mine is being scrutinized for telling the truth. I moved to that small ass town when I was 13 and was embraced with OPEN arms, though I hated it and rebelled. My parents were leasing a bar while I was in school and we lived there, I’m just simply going to say that I was surrounded by alcohol and drugs day in and day out. I surrounded myself with friends who were “just like me” with the exception of ONE. The rest of us were not afraid to get wasted, toke up, take pills or snort something. It was a free for all what ever your poison was you did it. I’m not going to say that there was NOTHING else to do in town, because there are a few who come out unscathed – but we can probably chalk that up to parenting. There are sports teams that do great, and clubs that take up time, but lets be honest with ourselves for a minute it wasn’t all about school while we were there, and for most kids it isn’t. I’m astonished to see the outcry from people that were not angels in school that now claim to be, its a funny thing to even lie to yourself – the truth comes out eventually whether you want it to or not. Just be the bigger person and admit your shortcomings and that you’ve learned and grown from them as a person, I know I have. I managed to move out of that town, I barely looked back and now I am proud to say I came from there I made my mistakes and I dealt with them accordingly. And to those that think this “ruined” your towns image please remember State College, a town rocked by a real tragedy being told the truth about your town is not wrecking the image it paints a clearer picture.

Will She Sleep?

I am the queen procrastinator, this is me doing my school work. I have accomplished 2 paragraphs of what is supposed to be 3 mini papers plus one paper that I need to accomplish before I leave the house tomorrow afternoon.. FAIL.. maybe I’ll get to sleep tonight?

I Forgot To Eat?

I Forgot To Eat?

Everything is slowly boiling to a head – and I’m realizing just how busy life gets in the heat of everything. I forgot to eat yesterday which is completely unacceptable, but by the time I realized I hadn’t eaten it was really late and would have done more harm than good. So I’m still burning on food from Wednesday, somehow.. Great thing is I get to finish out my last day of work before August then come home and write up my final and essay plus do my discussions so I can pass my classes and not worry about them on vacation – as I took a vacation from them last week. ;] In the midst of writing I’ll be packing – because I still haven’t packed and trying not to give myself a SEVERE migraine. I don’t need to push to hard because we can leave anytime on Saturday but we will be meeting with his Mom and Sister to do a “birthday gift” thing before we leave also. So that needs factored in, being a chronic procrastinator doesn’t always make a good story!

Genius!

I am going to let you all in on a secret. I wrote this paper in a half an hour. I pulled this topic from my ass about a half hour before that and started researching it then. So I’m about half amazed I did this! Haha stroke of GENIUS!

Hi Brandi,

Well done!  You have done a good job with your paper and have met the project requirements.  Your use of resources and integration into the body of your paper is clear.  You have met the length requirements and illustrated an understanding of the topic you chose and its relationship to stress. APA formatting was applied, including proper citations.  I enjoyed reading your paper and learning your perspectives on stress and humor. Good work!

HONESTY

HONESTY

Believe it or not I wasn’t always the girl picked first for kickball. I wasn’t always every ones best friend and I definitely didn’t wear top notch clothes throughout school. But I have some pretty kick ass close friends who don’t care that I say whatever I want when I want and sometimes it’s definitely not appropriate. I have friends that love me for me – not because I have anything snazzy or cool because I’m random as fuck and I add a little something extra to their lives. Now I’m going to touch on my family, whom I rarely speak to – on both sides. I’m the type of person who’s not a reacher. I need people to want to talk to me or I’ll just not engage – I do it with my facebook rarely do I engage in conversations with anyone other than my actual friends unless I’m “selling” my blog. So I speak to my mom and sister – because they call me more than once a month or less and I call them back and then it became habit to just call. But rarely do I speak to my dad or step siblings, and you’d be caught in a black hole of doom before any of my aunts, uncles or cousins called. And on the ODD occasion I needed to call my grandparents it’s as short and sweet as it can be. I’m not a big visitor either. I don’t like traveling just to see someone then coming back especially in a short amount of time – and it always goes awry for me. I always put my shit out there straight up for everyone to see – because I’m real and true and honest. I don’t fake shit, or create shit.

First-Grader Suspended for Singing ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’

First-Grader Suspended for Singing 'I'm Sexy and I Know It'

http://news.yahoo.com/first-grader-suspended-singing-im-sexy-know-170724238–abc-news-topstories.html

A Colorado elementary school student was suspended from school this week for singing a lyric from a popular LMFAO song, “I’m sexy and I know it.”
Those six little words from the Los Angeles rap-influenced duo earned first-grader D’Avonte Meadows a three day dismissal from Sable Elementary in Aurora, Colo.
“I only just said the song,” Meadows told Denver’s ABC7 News. “I’m sexy and I know it.”
School officials said D’Avonte was suspended for sexual harassment after he sang and the line to a female classmate who was standing in a lunch line. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the first time he’d serenaded this girl with this particular lyric.
Aurora School District’s Media Relations Specialist Paula Hans, said in a statement:
“Aurora Public Schools is committed to providing equitable learning for all students. We have policies and protocol in place to prevent any disruption to the learning environment. Due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss appropriate disciplinary consequences about a specific student.”
District policy, as outlined in the student handbook, states that sexual harassment “must have negative effects on the learning or work of others.”
D’Avonte’s mother, Stephanie Meadows, told ABC7 News that her son had had disciplinary problems before this week’s infraction. Last month, she said, he was sent to the principal’s office for singing the same song to the same girl.
This time, however, he was “shaking his booty” near the girl’s face, Meadows told ABC7 News.
“I’m going to definitely have to sit with him and see if he understands exactly what the song means,” Meadows told ABC7 News.
But Meadows still doesn’t believe her son’s recent actions justify suspension for sexual harassment.
“I could understand if he was fondling her, looking up her skirt, trying to look in her shirt. That, to me, is sexual harassment,” Meadows told ABC7 News. “I’m just, I’m floored. They’re going to look at him like he’s a pervert. And it’s like, that’s not fair to him.”

– First of all this song is all over TV and the Radio he’s singing a song let the boy be in school. How many stupid things did you do when you were in school? My dad – whose probably the age of the teachers and people involved in suspending the poor child has told me some stories about how terrible he was even as young as 6 in school, times have changed but he was SINGING! It’s not like he whipped out his dick or ripped off his shirt – come on!
